I'm a great lover of ancient and modern architecture. My daughter says I'm obsessed with multi story car parks because I always get excited when I see a good one. Architecture has a big influence on my design style, particularly with repetition of shapes, geometry, shadows and reflections. This design, High Rise, is my most obvious piece of architectural art so far. It's inspired by a photograph of a mid century London tower block I found in a book on British domestic architecture, I don't think the building exists anymore. The building had strong diagonal coloured shapes exactly as I've portrayed and deep shadows around the evenly spaced small windows. I've added different stitch patterns to each colour element to give the piece texture and to make it interesting to stitch.
