Frequently Asked Questions

I would love make finished craft items using your patterns to sell on my charity or craft stall, or via the internet, am I allowed?

All my patterns and charts are for the personal use of the purchaser only. You may view and print the downloads in their published format as many times as is required for your own use. You may produce an unlimited number of finished items for your own pleasure or to give away to friends and family. Finished items may not be used by the purchaser or a recipient for financial or charitable gain.

Can I enter my finished piece in a competition?

That would be cheating as it wouldn't be your own work.

I run craft classes and would like to use your patterns to teach crafting techniques to others, does the copyright allow me to do this?

All downloads are for personal use only and may not to be shared with others.

My Mum/sister/friend/colleague has asked me to give them a copy of a pattern I bought, am I allowed to print one out for them.

All my designs, patterns and instructions are protected under UK ©copyright law as literary and artistic work and are for the sole use of the purchaser only. As a licensee and/or end user of Judith Drew Designs the purchaser may not copy, republish, sell, display in any media, modify, adapt, rent, lease, loan or distribute any part of any download. No portion of any download may be included in kits, CD’s, DVD’s, videos or publications.

I can't view my patterns, why?

To view downloads you need to have a version five or later copy of Adobe Reader installed on your computer.

When I print a pattern directly from the email link it doesn't come out the correct size, how do I make it the right size?

My files are formatted to fit on both A4 and Letter size paper. To get your files to print to the correct size first you need to save them on your computer. To do this you can either right click anywhere on a PDF and select 'Save as...' or hover your mouse somewhere at the bottom of the screen so that some symbols appear, then click the 'save' icon. Once you have saved you PDF file it will either drop to the bottom of your screen where you can just click on it to open it, or you will have to go into the file you just created and double click it to open it. To print out the saved PDF file select the print icon from somewhere on the screen, a box will pop up, make sure the 'none' or 'Actual size' box is checked and 'fit to page' is NOT selected before pressing print. If you are printing onto Letter size paper and find that some of the information has missed off the print have another go but this time select 'fit to page'. This setting will print a smaller chart but it should all fit on a sheet of paper.

Why don't my printed downloads come out the same colour as they appear on the screen?

The designs I produce are only tested on one home printer, mine, as all printers are different I can't guarantee that the colours your printer produces will look the same as the images on your computer screen. I try to design patterns that have a good contrast between colours by not using two colours that are almost the same. My best advice is to try a few different printer settings until you find the setting that produces the clearest image.

Is it OK to add a link from my blog or website to any of Judith Drew Designs products or to share the images to Pinterest or Instagram?

Yes, free publicity is always welcome but please be aware that I sometimes have to change the titles of blog pages or move designs to a different location so your link would no longer work. Please give all credit to Judith Drew Designs.

What are PDF files and do you supply the designs in other formats.

Portable Document Files or PDF's are easy to use static files that can't be altered, resized or cropped so will print as a full A4 or letter size sheet with all the text and a white border. For ease of designing and printing I have decided not to supply my designs in any other file formats.

Can I get the designs translated into a different language?

Judith Drew Designs downloads are currently only available in English.
