When I'm stitching a new design I'm often inspired by a small element in that design to start thinking about future designs. While stitching Navy Circles I thought about exploring how else I could break up an overall grid of triangles to create a different pattern. I'm fascinated by the idea of shapes overlaying other shapes to make new shapes so that the viewer isn't quite sure which part of the design to focus on. In this design there are small squares and triangles with large diamonds overlaying them. The large diamonds create even larger triangles that pull the eye up and down the design. The small black and white circles and the strong vertical black lines add drama to the piece. The different stitch patterns of bricks, triangles and vertical stripes add texture to the pattern and make it an interesting one to stitch. I've chosen slightly mad colour scheme but you could choose more subtle thread colours to suit your tastes.
I specialise in modern, geometric, counted thread patterns that are stitched using horizontal straight stitches on needlepoint canvas.
The finished pieces are displayed on hangers to create hand stitched wall hangings to decorate your home.

I always try to create a balance of colours throughout a design, all the colours are evenly spaced across the piece so that no two elements will have similar colours next to each other.
